Peach Picking 2011

Amy and I went fruit picking again. And I did not take the boy. It was a very smart move, if I do say so myself!I was able to leisurely pick peaches and eat them as I pleased.

We even picked blueberries! It was my first time picking blueberries - and let me tell you, it might just be my last. J/K! It was a very time consuming work. About half-way through it, I desperately wanted to stop. But they won't sell you a half container.

It was insanely hot, and for some reason about 100 people were out there. And they were ALL trying to get all up in my space. We were all passive-aggressively picking them - afraid we wouldn't be able to fill up our containers. But, I did it. I filled up my gallon container (which held approximately 16 cups of blueberries - for 8 bucks!). And I am so glad I did. My guys love them some blueberries!

This morning for breakfast, my son ate about a cup all my himself (plus an egg and a peach muffin). I froze 11 cups so that I can make jam later.

I cut up some of the peaches and made peach jam today.

I am about to cut up the rest and freeze them, now (with help from my AWESOME mother!)

Peach Jam making is about 100 times harder than berry jam making. Seeing as how you have to peel, and cut them up. And doing all that makes a huge mess. I have concluded that peach jam is made up of 20% peaches and sugar and 80% LOVE!

Lots of hard work, but it'll be so worth it (says the girl who doesn't pick anything anymore. lol). Trust me, I've done my share. :-)
