On Father's Day

I am celebrating the fathers in my life.

I am so grateful for my own father who was always in my life (even though my parents divorced when I was 6). They had the rare relationship that made them so cordial - we saw him all the time. My mom would even let him sleep on the couch on Christmas Eve so that he could wake up with us on Christmas.

Despite the fact that I am almost 30 and have been married for 5 years, he still treats me like I am a teenager. "You need some money, baby?" "Um, no Popi - I am okay." *slipping me a 50 anyhow*.

My sister got married last night and he was strategizing, trying to figure out how to give her some cash without her new husband seeing and without seeming awkward.

I am also grateful for my brother for being such an awesome father to my niece. He reminds me so much of our father.

And lastly - but certainly not leastly, I am proud of E for the kind of father he is to our son. I shouldn't have been so surprised seeing how he was raised by his own father (another awesome father). But, I was. When I see Zekey and E together, it sometimes brings tears to my eyes - which could be due to my raging hormones...

From changing every diaper (when he is home) to giving Zekey his baths to reading him a story at bedtime - E is exactly the kind of father I could have only wished he would be. I am so glad Zekey has him.
