The Magic Pillow

Everyday, from around 5pm Zeke gets fussy. His eyes will droop, he drops his head, but then, as if getting a sudden burst of energy, he jerks his head up, widens his eyes, refusing to go to sleep. E and I try everything to get him to go to sleep. We rock him, I nurse him, E takes him for a walk outside. While these things do calm him down, he still refuses to sleep.

Well, last night. I got a brilliant idea. About a month ago, I received a wonderful lavender scented eye pillow in a craft swap. Remembering how it makes me feel more relaxed, I put it in front of Zekey's face and guess what? He goes RIGHT to sleep. I almost felt like I was drugging him.

Now I know what I will include in every baby shower gift I give!

Andy's Doll

I finally finished a doll for a girl named Andy and sent it to her. I poured over every single detail, wanting to make it perfect. Of course, she is my new favorite. I must say, it was well worth the effort.

Andy got the doll today and sent me this message:

"Ayana! I got her. She was a wonderful surprise waiting for me when I got home for lunch today! SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love, love, love her! You are so creative. I am honored to have gotten one of your dolls before you start charging what they are really worth. I can see that so much went into making her. Sooo detailed - the tops the headband, skirt everything!"

Yay! I must have read that message 10 times.

The doll features a reversible tube top,

that closes with leather straps, adorned with wooden beads,

brass hoop earrings, necklace made with turquoise beads, fresh water pearls, and tiger's eye,

a skirt made from fabric my sister hand dyed,

that ties in the back,

AND a sweater

that buttons up the back

Thank you for looking!

Now, don't you want one of your own? Go ahead, order it.

Black August Weekend.

...or Black August Weekend/ whatever you want to call it. I did this festival this past weekend and it is my favorite one, yet. I think I would have loved this festival even if I didn't sell a single item! The vibes were good, the people beautiful, and I sold the most items I've ever sold at a festival!

There is another one in Richmond, VA on the 29th I wish I could do. However, my mother AND mother-in-law will be in town that weekend. :(.
